Arm Pain
Arm Pain and Cervical Radiculopathy Relief
Arm pain may occur in several ways with numerous symptoms and differing causes. Our chiropractors treat one of the more common causes of arm pain that originates with the neck and/or upper back known as cervical radiculopathy. Typically, instead of originating from a single event or injury, cervical radiculopathy occurs following long-time neck pain, joint inflammation or herniated discs in the neck irritating the nerves responsible for the sensation and function of the arms. It can be extremely painful, but chiropractic treatments provide welcomed relief.
Our Arm Pain Treatment Options
If you live in Butte and suffer with neck, upper back and arm pain and/or numbness, tingling and weakness in the arms, please come in for an examination with our chiropractors. Arm pain from cervical radiculopathy is most common in adults over 50, but can affect anyone that has nerve pressure in the neck due to any of the following causes:
Herniated disc in the neck
The jelly-like “shock pads”, intervertebral discs, between each vertebrae serve to absorb stress in healthy cases and partake in creating a passageway for nerves to travel from the spinal cord, out of the spine, and into the extremities etc. These discs can become dehydrated and bulge or rupture, either from the prolonged poor posture or from traumatic events like a car accident. Damaged discs and vertebrae pressurize the nerves, leading to arm pain, numbness and weakness.
Subluxations
When long-term poor posture or an injury jostles neck/upper back vertebrae out of alignment, they can also pinch nerves and inflame the facet joints, causing early-onset osteoarthritis; a leading cause of cervical radiculopathy.
Poor ergonomics
Habitual forward head posture from leaning into your computer all day, particularly when coupled with an un-ergonomic desk setup, can also cause significant neck pain, upper back pain, and arm pain symptoms.
Chiropractic Treatments
After diagnosing the causes of your arm pain, our chiropractors can provide treatment options for natural, lasting relief
Our doctors gentle, precise spinal adjustments realign vertebrae to remove pressure from discs, which relieves nerve pressure and pain.
Our chiropractor will teach you stretches and exercises to help you support proper neck posture and improve range of motion through the upper back, shoulders and arms. They can also advise you on better ergonomics at work or write a letter of recommendation to have your work station assessed.
